Company Background
NursePreneurs is a business by nurses for nurses.
NursePreneurs
Was founded to teach nurses how to start their own businesses using the knowledge and skills they already have. Entrepreneurial skills are learned behaviors, and Catie teaches nurses how to leverage what they already know and create a successful business model.
It’s a well-known fact and sad truth that nurses get burnt out in the hospital system and many choose to leave for other professions. Our nurses are the gems of the healthcare system and they have an incredible amount of knowledge that can and should be harnessed to improve the health of our nation.
That’s why Catie provides mentoring and career building models to teach nurses how to excel in the business world using what they already know.
It’s her hope that more and more entrepreneurs will emerge from the Nursing profession as we continue to invest the time, money, and effort it requires to support the unmet needs of this profession.

Long Version
My goal with developing NursePreneurs is to provide a place for nurses who want to know more, do more and contribute more as entrepreneurs. I want to work with nurses who want to raise the bar in the profession and in their own careers.
Mentoring is the true key to success, something I found out early in my own career. While trying to learn the ropes of new jobs that I took on, I came to understand there was this “cloud” of not really seeing the whole picture of what I was supposed to be doing. Finding someone who could lead me in the right direction, even if I wasn’t sure where we were going was pivotal in my career. I’ve had to trust many people along the way who had been where I was and believe that they could take me to the level where they were. It wasn’t so important to know exactly why I was doing every piece. That trust became so important. It’s what I do now, and I see it from a different perspective. I’m asking nurses in business to trust my process to help them realize their dreams of carving out a niche for themselves in the entrepreneurial landscape. In order to build that trust, I believe in providing massive value up front. I provide free teachings, workshops, email courses, and training to help them to step on a path that will take them somewhere other than where they were going. Providing value first is instrumental.
Teaching business skills in Nursing school is basically unheard of due to the sheer time constraints! Through NursePreneurs, I want to bridge this gap by offering a mentoring program designed to help nurses to organize and structure their expertise into a business model. It’s hard to see your expertise in the beginning when so much information is given to you at once. My program appreciates that nurses are experts in their space but that they lack a fundamental understanding of business – which is much easier to teach. I teach them how to work sequentially through a proven formula to achieve business success.
I also have the unique perspective of having worked in the corporate headquarters of Walmart. I was responsible for supporting their primary care clinics through talent acquisition and professional relations teams. When I started doing Professional Relations for the Walmart Care Clinics, I began meeting the most incredible NPs who were doing amazing work. It was at this point in my life that I realized how much I haven’t done yet. I didn’t know that you could be a consultant for the World Health Organization, or work in the Surgeon General’s Office or run the Walmart Care Clinics. I don’t know how I missed this, but when I look around me now, I see Nurses who are in a career rut. They have the ceiling in their jobs and have nowhere to go-and academics aren’t for everyone. So, why aren’t more nurses out there sooner doing amazing work? I think it’s a combination of things. First, we have a lack of exposure to amazing Nurses doing incredible work at the national and international levels. Second, we lack the blueprint of how to go from point A to point B. I can sit here today and say I want to be a consultant for the World Health Organization, but that isn’t how it works.
You have to actively set yourself on the path to becoming a consultant, or a thought leader, or a business owner.
People have to know who you are and what you stand for. You need to create a professional persona and brand your identity. The same is true for NursePreneurs. The prospect of that may seem overwhelming for most people, which is why I designed my courses. I have programs that work with nurses to develop their vision of their business idea, and walk them step by step to give them everything they need to start out in one place. I am all about structured, organized learning. I don’t want to take 3 years to understand something.
NursePreneurs, coupled with my exclusive nurse podcast, is my contribution to the Nursing community. I want to work with inspiring and incredible nurses. Nurses can dream big and do more, but we all need some help along the way. My dream is to help create amazing NursePreneurs who elevate our profession to a whole new level!
