The advanced device lab

The Device Is a

Tool.

Not the Treatment
Plan.

Aesthetic technology is expanding quickly. Understanding it requires more than memorizing settings.

IPL. Radiofrequency. RF microneedling. Precision RF. Lasers. Plasma. Cryotherapy. Every category has multiple platforms, different mechanisms, tissue targets, strengths, and very real limitations.

The goal of the Advanced Device Lab is not to convince you that one machine is best. It is to help you understand what technologies are available, what they are designed to do, where they make sense clinically, and where they do not.

what we compare

Mechanism, tissue target, intended outcome, overlap, limitations, patient fit, downtime, risk, sequencing, combination approaches, and what to consider before investing in a device.

Don't start with the machine.
Start with the patient's concern.

Work With the Technologies

I Use in My Own Practice.

Philly Wellness Center has multiple device categories available—including TShape, Morpheus8, AGNES Precision RF, and Quantum RF—letting us compare technologies in a real clinical setting, not just on a presentation slide.

Technology literacy

Learn the

Category,

Not Just the

Device.

The platforms at Philly Wellness Center are practical teaching tools. The framework is designed to help you evaluate any aesthetic technology more intelligently.

We examine technologies beyond the specific equipment in the clinic so you understand the larger market landscape, the mechanisms involved, and how major categories compare.

01

IPL vs vascular laser vs fractional laser

02

External RF vs RF microneedling vs precision RF

03

Thulium vs other fractional resurfacing technologies

04

Nitrogen plasma vs laser vs RF for skin remodeling

05

Cryotherapy vs other approaches for focal lesions or aesthetic applications

The Device Decision Framework

Move from the concern in front of you to a clear rationale for selection, tradeoffs, and treatment sequencing.

01

What Is the Problem?

Pigment, vascular change, texture, scarring, laxity, acne, sebaceous activity, a focal lesion, skin quality, or a body contour concern.

02

What Tissue Is Driving It?

Epidermis, dermis, blood vessels, sebaceous structures, collagen, or subcutaneous tissue.

03

What Response Are We Trying to Create?

Selective photothermolysis, controlled thermal injury, fractional remodeling, coagulation, collagen stimulation, tissue contraction, cryodestruction, or regenerative signaling.

04

Which Technology Can Create That Response?

Then evaluate the tradeoffs: depth, downtime, pain, risk, skin-type limitations, treatment number, cost, operator dependence, and expected magnitude of improvement.

05

Which Device Makes Sense for This Patient?

Compare technologies conceptually, then work with the available platforms in the clinic with a clear patient-specific rationale.

06

What Should Be Combined or Sequenced?

Consider when to combine or stage IPL, RF, RF microneedling, precision RF, thulium laser, nitrogen plasma, cryotherapy, injectables, regenerative treatments, and skin-quality treatments.

Patient first. Technology second. Brand third.

A broader clinical view

More Than

Manufacturer

Training.

Manufacturer education is important. But naturally, manufacturers teach you how to use their technology.

This intensive takes a broader view: what else is available, what category a device belongs to, what technologies compete with it, where it outperforms alternatives, where another approach might be better, and what limitations matter before you buy or recommend it.

Then we use the equipment available at Philly Wellness Center for practical demonstrations, treatment planning, and hands-on experience where appropriate.

Before and after energy-based treatments

How the patient is prepared and supported before and after a procedure changes the treatment experience, communication, and appropriate expectation setting.

The Device Is Only One Part of the Treatment.

Before and after energy-based treatments

How the patient is prepared and supported before and after a procedure changes the treatment experience, communication, and appropriate expectation setting.

Pre-treatment

Prepare With Purpose.

We may cover skin preparation, barrier health, patient selection, medication and skincare review, inflammation management, treatment-specific precautions, photography, and expectation setting.

Post-treatment

Plan the Recovery.

Depending on the procedure, we discuss barrier recovery, EGF-based masks, growth-factor products, exosome-based products, stem-cell-derived topical products, red-light therapy, cooling, hydration, post-procedure skincare, and downtime management.

+

We discuss where adjuncts may make sense, where evidence is limited, and how to communicate appropriately with patients.

Technology Decision.

Whether you already use aesthetic technology, are considering your first device, are choosing between platforms, are adding a new service, or want to understand why an existing device is underperforming—this lab gives you a more useful way to evaluate the next step.

Learn From Catie Harris, PhD, NP

Founder of NursePreneurs and philly wellness center

Catie’s work brings clinical practice, regenerative wellness, aesthetics, education, and entrepreneurship into one real-practice learning environment. The Device Lab is built around a simple question: what does this patient need—and which technology can responsibly help create that response?

In a group of four, the conversation can move beyond a device’s presets to the clinical reasoning that makes its use more thoughtful.

Practical details for the Advanced Device Lab.

Who can attend?

The lab is designed for licensed healthcare professionals and experienced aesthetic providers. Eligibility, hands-on participation, and procedures depend on licensure, scope of practice, product/device requirements, and applicable regulations.

Do I need to own an aesthetic device?

No. The course is relevant whether you are already using devices, evaluating your first investment, comparing technologies, or expanding an existing practice.

Will we use specific devices?

Yes. Philly Wellness Center’s available platforms are used as real-practice teaching tools, while the course framework focuses on comparing technology categories more broadly.

Will I work with live models?

Sunday is dedicated to live-model clinical education. Observation and hands-on participation depend on individual professional scope and applicable requirements.

Is this manufacturer training?

No. Manufacturer education is important, but this intensive takes a broader clinical view—comparing categories, mechanisms, alternatives, limitations, and patient fit.

What happens on Saturday?

Saturday includes technology foundations, tissue response, patient assessment, device decision-making, treatment planning, demonstrations, and hands-on practice where appropriate.

What happens on Sunday?

Sunday includes live-model assessment, technology selection, treatment planning, demonstrations, clinical application, and real-time decision-making.

Are supplies included?

Supply details will be confirmed with the final course enrollment information.
